The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum has welcomed Shannon Mitchell of Salisbury, Md. as Director of Events. Mitchell is responsible for the planning, management, and execution of CBMM’s annual signature festivals—including OysterFest—and will oversee CBMM’s work as a unique wedding and private event venue.
Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts with a focus on mass media from Salisbury University, and brings more than eight years’ experience in event and communication management. An Eastern Shore native, Mitchell’s work has benefited numerous events, including the annual Salisbury Festival, Delmarva Chicken Festival and the Wicomico County Fair in Salisbury, Md.
“CBMM’s festivals provide a great opportunity for people to enjoy our waterfront while having a lot of fun,” says Mitchell. “And by offering our campus for weddings and private events, we can extend the opportunity to enjoy our waterfront in a unique setting.”
An Eastern Shore native, Mitchell volunteers for Women Supporting Women and serves on the Board of the Wicomico County Farm & Home Show. She is a 2013 graduate of the Dale Carnegie Leadership Training program.
“Events play a big part in CBMM’s success,” said CBMM President Kristen Greenaway. “We’re delighted to have Shannon on board to help us deliver memorable festivals, weddings, and other events to all those who love the Chesapeake Bay.”
