On January 9, 2017, VFW Post 5118 (Talbot Co.), recognized Sgt. Eric M. Kellner as their nomination for “Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year”. Sgt. Kellner’s name will now be forwarded as consideration for state recognition. Sgt. Eric Kellner is a 14-year police veteran with the Easton Police Department. Additionally, Sgt. Kellner is a volunteer fireman and a part-time EMT.
As the Supervisor of the department’s Bicycle Patrol, Sgt. Kellner engages in all facets of the community. Sgt. Kellner regularly participates with the “Coffee with a Cop” program, National Night Out, and other outreach efforts while also attending a variety of community meetings. In addition to his assigned duties, Sgt. Kellner is the department’s SWAT Team Leader and certified Instructor. As an instructor he provides a variety of training in many topics as well as help other area police officers become certified in “Law Enforcement Emergency Medical Care”.
Sgt. Kellner will not accept sole credit for any of his successes; he understands that it takes others as dedicated as him to work as a team. However he does provide the perfect work environment and leadership that ultimately produces success.
The Easton Police Department is proud for Sgt. Kellner’s recognition. We realized how difficult of a decision this was for the VFW; knowing how fortunate we are to work alongside so many other talented and dedicated Law Enforcement Officers in Talbot County.
