On January 19, 2017 members of the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force assisted by uniformed troopers from the Centreville Barrack and members of the Kent County Narcotics Task Force served a knock and announce search warrant on the manager’s office and bedroom at the Courtyard Inn Motel 6336 Church Hill Road Chestertown, Queen Anne’s County, Maryland.
Entry into the office was made through an unlocked door. Lindsey McGinnes, the hotel manager and primary suspect, was detained on the scene. A search of McGinnes’ and boyfriend Michael Tate’s bedroom revealed 27.2 grams of suspected heroin and 4 Adderall pills.
McGinnes who has a prior criminal history for CDS violations was charged on an open arrest warrant for maintaining a common nuisance for allowing heroin dealers to operate from the motel, in addition to possession of heroin and possession of paraphernalia.
Tate, who has a previous criminal history for CDS violations, was charged with the possession of heroin and the possession of paraphernalia.
This search warrant was the result of a five month long investigation into heroin use and sales from the Courtyard Inn Motel. During this investigation multiple vehicles were stopped as they left the motel and investigators recovered heroin, cocaine and prescription pills. On two occasions heroin dealers were stopped as they were returning to the motel with large amounts of heroin in their possession.
