Teachers and staff at Caroline County Public Schools raised $17,000 for Imagination Library during their December Challenge Fundraiser.  They presented the Imagination Library Partnership with a check at their Board of Education meeting on February 7, 2017.  This is the second year that the employees of the school system have donated to Imagination Library; last year they raised $10,275.

December’s fundraiser encouraged schools within the system to compete with one another to raise the most money, and teachers, administrators, and staff enjoyed the friendly competition.

“We know that participating in the Imagination Library program helps kids come to school ready to learn, and we are so pleased that we are able to support the program,” says Dr. Patricia Saelens, Interim Superintendent of Schools.

Imagination Library of Caroline County is an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and is administered by the Caroline County Public Library.  Participants in the program receive one new, high-quality book mailed to their home every month from birth to age 5.  Enrollment is free to all Caroline County residents under the age of 5.

All funds raised locally go toward purchasing books for children in Caroline County, with the Dollywood Foundation covering all administrative costs.

In its first year of operation, Imagination Library has gained strong community support.  A dedicated partnership of local leaders ensures that the program stays fully funded and that enrollment continues to grow. Partners include:  Maryland Rural Development Corporation; Family Support Center and Federalsburg and Greensboro Judy Centers; Chamber of Commerce; Caroline Economic Development Corporation; Commissioners Office; Human Services Council; Caroline County Public Schools; and the YMCA.
