Check out our fall Healthy Parks Healthy People Program schedule.  September is a great time to get back into a routine, exercise, and get outdoors.  All programs are guided except where indicated.  For more information call the Tuckahoe State Park Office at 410-820-1668.



(Bring bike, helmet, water bottle and spare tube/ tools.  Bikes can be rented in advance at Tuckahoe/Martinak by calling 410-820-1668.  Rental free for Park RX holders)

Caroline Cycles: 40+ mile ride for experienced cyclist, no drop ride, on back roads.  September 9, 9:00 AM. Leaves from Harvest Ridge Winery, 447 Westville Rd, Marydel, DE. Cyclist must be able to ride 12 to 15 mph. For more information call 410-924-7402

Tuesday Cycle: Ride 10 to 15 miles at your pace! It’s a great opportunity for those new to cycling. Tuesdays, 6:30 PM, Martinak Park Office

Trail Ride: Ride the trails and park roads at Tuckahoe to complete a vigorous 10 mile ride.  Cherry Lane Pavilion, September 13, 20, and 27 at 5:00 PM


Disc Golf 101 and other Disc Games: Learn how to play and develop your skills, September 10 and 17, 1:00–3:00 PM, Tuckahoe Disc Golf Course. (Loaner discs are available.)

Disc Golf Tournament: Tuckahoe State Park Disc Golf Course, September 3, 1:00 PM.  For more information call the park office at 410-820-1668


First Saturdays: Discover native habitats at Adkins. $5.00 for non-members, Free for members and Park RX holders.) September 2, 10:00 AM Adkins Arboretum

Martinak Family Walk: Bring the family for a relaxing evening walk. September 11 and 25, 6:30-7:30 PM, Martinak Park Office

Walk it Out!: Challenge yourself to go further and walk faster. Tuesdays

September 12, 19, 26 and Thursdays, 8:45–9:45 AM Martinak Amphitheatre

Senior Stroll: Meet up with others to walk. Tuesday, September 12, 19, 26 and Thursday, 10:30-11:30 AM, Martinak Park Office

Lunch Time Walk: Take a mid-day break to walk on Tuesdays, September 12, 19, 26 and Thursdays, 12:00-12:45 PM, Martinak Park Office

Early Morning Walk:  Explore trails, talk about animal tracks, birds, and plants. ($5.00 for non-members, free for members and Park RX holders.)  September 9, 8:00-9:30 AM, Adkins Arboretum

Dog Walk: Stroll the best paths while walking your dog. ($5.00 for non-members, Free for members and Park RX holders.) September 7, 9:00-10:00 AM, Adkins Arboretum

Everybody Walk: Explore nature along the new trail. Saturdays, 9:00 AM, Tuckahoe Park Office.

Bird Walk: Join Danny Poet from the Caroline County Bird Club to walk and search for birds. September 3, 8:00 AM, Tuckahoe boat ramp

Tuckahoe Multi Use Trail: Enjoy a steady 5- to 6-mile walk. September 24, Noon-3:30 PM. Meet at Adkins. This walk is free for members, Parks Rx holders and free with $5 admission for non-members.

Bird Migration Walk: Join Wayne Bell on a guided bird walk through Adkins Arboretum. Free for members, Parks Rx holders and free with $5 admission for non-members. September 9, 8:00-10:00 AM

Evening Walk: Enjoy a twilight walk along the Tuckahoe Multi Use Trail.  September 13, 20 and 27 at 6:30 PM. Martinak Park Office.


Sunrise Yoga: Led by Jen, from Caroline County Recreation and Parks, enjoy yoga by connecting mind, body, and nature with seamless transitions of basic yoga poses. All levels, 16 & older, $35 for the session ending 10/9, Mondays, 7:15-8:00AM, Martinak State Park Amphitheatre, Free for Parks Rx holders.

Morning Stretch: Improve your flexibility, core development, and balance. Tuesdays, September 12, 19, 26 and Thursdays 8:00-8:45 AM, Martinak Amphitheater.  Bring a mat or towel.

Boot Camp 101: Don’t be afraid to get dirty as you get in shape on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 PM, Tuckahoe Lake. All levels, Age 10+ You’ll love it!

Tuckahoe Couch to 5k: Meet up with others for a jog in the park.  Great for those beginning to exercise or getting back in shape. Thursdays, 6:00 PM, lake pavilion

Martinak Couch to 5k: This program is designed for those preparing to run the Thanksgiving 5k or to just get in shape. Led by the Caroline County Family Y September 17 and 24, Martinak Park Office at 5:00 PM


Clogging Basics: Learn the basic steps to clog dancing and easy routines. No special shoes needed. Thursdays September 7, 14, and 28, 6:00-7:00 PM Martinak Nature Center


Family Fun Day: Enjoy a day of fun on the Tuckahoe Challenge Course’s rock wall, tube net, zip line, giant swing, and pamper pole. Pre-registration is recommended. Call 410-820-1668. Cost: Adults 16 & older $20/person; youth ages 7-15 $10/person. September 30, 11:00 –2:00 PM.

Juggling and Disc Games:  Impress your friends with a new skills! Mondays, September 11 and 25 Martinak Park Office at 6:00 PM

Open Rock Wall and Zip Line: For both experienced climbers and those new to climbing. A parent or guardian must accompany youth under the age of 18, 11:00-2:00 PM Cost: $10

Weed Warriors Walk: Come prepared to attack invasive plants on this hike at

Tuckahoe State Park.  Meet at Camp Store. September 15, 9:00-11:00 AM

Geocaching 101: Learn how to participate in a high-tech treasure hunt and get outdoors. Learn to use a GPS receiver. Tuckahoe Park Office, September 4, 2:00-3:00 PM


Park Quest: Families this is a self-guided nature art activity. Explore the Lore of the Land Trail at Tuckahoe. Bring pen/pencil. For more activities borrow the Quest backpack from the camp store at the entrance to the electric loop.

Orienteering: Use your navigational skills to find locations at Tuckahoe State Park. Stop at the park office or go to the youth camp area bulletin board for more information.
