On Thursday, September 14, Phyllis Brown of Chestertown hosted a hole-in-one event in memory of her mother, Mary Jean Hudson at the Chester River Yacht & Country Club in Chestertown. The event raised over $800 for hospice care and grief support offered through Compass Regional Hospice and the Hope & Healing Center.

Brown wanted to carry on the hole-in-one event her mother hosted to benefit hospice ten years prior. Golfers participated in competitions which included hole in one, closest to the pin, closest to the water, and closest to the ruff.

Compass Regional Hospice is the sole provider of hospice care and grief support in Queen Anne’s, Kent and Caroline Counties. Grief support is offered through the Hope & Healing Center, a collection of programs and services available for the family of patients who died under Compass Regional Hospice’s care and members of the community who are grieving the death of a loved one.

As a non‐profit organization, Compass Regional Hospice relies on financial support from the community to provide services not covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. Including room and board at our hospice centers, grief support services offered through the Hope & Healing Center and other patient support services such as the Bridges program.

Community events are a wonderful way to show support of your local community and to help raise the much-needed funds.  For more information or if you are interested in hosting an event to benefit Compass Regional Hospice and the Hope & Healing Center, contact Kristen Majchrzak, development assistant, 443-262-4126.
