Date: 10/17/2017 Theft under $1000 Location: 600 block LEGION RD

Denton Police are investigating a theft of a TV. Walmart staff reported that an unknown white male, wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants, pushed a 55 inch Samsung Curve TV out of the store without paying for it. The suspect was observed running to a red in color car with unknown DE registration.  A photo of the suspect can be found on the Denton Police Facebook page. Date: 10/17/2017 Driving on a Suspend License Location: 200 block N THIRD ST

Denton Police charged Brandon Jackson, 33 of Denton, with driving on a suspended license. Police observed Jackson operating a 2003 Chevrolet and has prior knowledge that Jackson’s license was suspended. A traffic stop was conducted, and Jackson was issued traffic citations for the violation. Jackson was released upon receiving the citations.

 

 

 

Date: 10/18/2017 Theft Scheme from $1000 to under $10,000 Location: 600 block LEGION RD

Denton Police investigated a theft. Walmart staff reported that an unknow male had walked out of the store with two televisions that he had not paid for. Photos of the suspect were placed on social media and police were able to identify the suspect as Adam Laplant, 34 of Seaford DE.

Charges were applied for and a warrant was issued for Laplant charging him with theft. On October 23, 2017 Laplant was located at Walmart. Laplant was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Laplant was processed and taken before a District Court Commissioner who ordered Laplant released on his own recognizance.

 

 

 

Date: 10/20/2017  Assault 2nd Degree Location: 200 block N 4TH ST

Denton Police arrested Lamont Lyles, 50 of Denton, for assault and firearms violations. The victim reported that Lyles had struck, choked and shoved the victim after a verbal argument. The victim then stated that Lyles threatened to kill the victim by shooting them. The victim fled the residence and went to a nearby relative. While speaking with the victim at that location police observed Lyles approach the area in a vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped, and Lyles was taken into custody. A short barreled (sawed off) shotgun was located on the front passenger seat and it was found to be loaded. Two additional shotgun shells were also located on Lyles person. It was also learned that Lyles is prohibited from possessing firearms because of felony convictions. Lyles was charged with second degree assault, possession of an unregistered rifle/shotgun, possession of a rifle/shotgun While being prohibited and possession of a rifle/shotgun after being convicted of a felony. Lyles was taken before a District Court Commissioner who ordered Lyles held without bail after an initial appearance hearing.
