On October 28, 2017, the Miles River Sail & Power Squadron along with the Easton Lions Club were assisted by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and the St Michaels Police Department collecting unwanted prescription drugs in Talbot County to support the DEA Drug Take Back day. Collection sites were established at Harris Teeter and Christ Church-St Michaels Parish where over seventy pounds of unwanted prescription drugs were collected and properly disposed of.

The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office was excited to participate in this worthy cause which supports Sheriff Joe Gamble’s initiative to reduce drug usage in Talbot County. The drug take back initiative along with Project Purple has achieved a major goal in getting the citizens of Talbot County talking about the opioid epidemic affecting our country. The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office will continue to engage in creative activities while working with other entities, clubs and citizens in our aggressive efforts to stop drug use in Talbot County.
