Date: 10/27/2017  Theft from $100 to under $1500 Location: 600 block LEGION RD

Denton Police arrested Tyrone Sayles, 56 of Clayton DE, for theft. During the months of September and October Walmart staff reported an unknown male entering the store, taking various merchandise and not paying for it. On September 9, 2017 the suspect stole a Dyson vacuum cleaner, on September 21, 2017 the suspect stole four Linksys routers and another Dyson vacuum cleaner; and on October 27, 2017 the suspect stole two electronic thermostats.

On November 5, 2017 a Walmart assistant manager observed the suspect in the store and called police. The suspect was detained and identified as Sayles. Sayles was taken into custody for the previous thefts and charged with theft from $1,000 to under $10,000, Theft under $1,000, theft from $100 to under $1,500 and theft scheme from $1,500 to under $25,000. Sayles was taken before a District Court Commissioner who ordered Sayles held in lieu of $5000.00 bail after an initial appearance hearing.

 

 

Date: 1 1/14/2017 DUI Location: 1000 block MARKET ST

Denton Police charged Cody Ciotola, 19 of Denton MD, with suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and other traffic violations. Police responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision and identified the operator as Ciotola. The crash investigation revealed that Ciotola was traveling west on Market Street when the vehicle he was operating, a 2001 Dodge Minivan, crossed the center line, Went through the east bound lane and struck a utility pole. Ciotola did not appear to have been injured.

 

While speaking with Ciotola police detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage about Ciotola’s breath and person and requested that he submit to a series of standardized field sobriety test. Ciotola declined and requested an attorney. Ciotola was taken into custody for the above violation and read his rights to submit to a breath test. Ciotola refused the breath test. Ciotola was issued citations for driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, violating a provisional license restriction and fail to drive on the right half of the roadway. Police provided Ciotola a ride home, after receiving the citations, where he was released to a responsible person.

 

 

Date: 11/15/2017 Assault 2nd Degree Location: INDUSTRIAL PK

Denton Police arrested Martin Richards, 50 of Sharptown MD, for assault. Police responded to the above area for a report of an assault taking place between a male and a female in a car. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with both people, one being identified as Richards. The female victim, who is Richards’ spouse, reported that Richards choked and punched her during an argument. The victim also reported that as she was trying to get out of the car Richards moved the car causing the victim to fall from the car. Police observed slight injuries to the victim that corroborated her report. Richards was taken into custody and charged with second degree assault and reckless endangerment. Richards was taken before a District Court Commissioner who ordered Richards released on a $5,000 unsecured bond after an initial appearance hearing.
