DENTON — The Denton Police Department said it is investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Denton residence.
Police said they responded to a home in the 200-block of Sixth Street, where the resident reported he or she arrived home about 9:45 p.m. and saw someone in the garage. The resident described the person as a black man, probably in his early 20s, about 5-foot-7-inches tall with a medium build, wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and black gloves, police said.
Police said the resident said he or she confronted the man, who brandished a knife and demanded money and drugs. The resident refused, police said, and the man fled on foot.
When the resident went into the home, police said, he or she heard a loud noise outside, and discovered a landscaping paver had been thrown at the resident’s car, smashing the windshield.
Further investigation showed the man had entered the home and taken a bottle of prescription medication, police said.
