Denton Man Faces Armed Robbery Charges

GREENSBORO — A Denton man faces armed robbery charges after he allegedly robbed the Greensboro Save A Lot food store 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, with a plastic Airsoft gun.

Derrick Antoine Jefferson, 46, 205 Market St. was arrested at the store by Maryland State Police and charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a firearm during a violent crime, handgun on person and theft less than $1,000. He is being held at the Caroline County Detention Center without bond.

According to police, Jefferson walked into the store at 13262 Greensboro Road wearing all black with a hoodie. Police said he displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register and cashier.

After he was given the money and prior to leaving the store, police said, the store manager and two other patrons tackled Jefferson and disarmed him. He was restrained until police arrived to take him into custody. Police said there were no injuries and the gun found at the store was a plastic model 1911 Airsoft gun. Police recovered the plastic gun and stolen money.

Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, the Caroline County States Attorney’s office, Caroline County Sheriff’s Department and Ridgely Police Department assisted.
